This year’s 1,000 Nights of Summer Contest from Marriott falls along those same lines, but by doling out 1,000 free stays in any Marriott a winner chooses, the ever-growing hotel chain hopes to win fans for life.

To qualify for the promotion, you have to be a Marriott Rewards member. (If you’re not a member already, it’s free to open an account and you can do so here.) From there, you can apply to win one of 1,000 free nights given out this summer through a few different means.

The Fine Print

The sweepstakes began on April 25, 2017, and runs through June 30, 2017. To be eligible, you must be a Marriott Rewards member who is a legal resident of one of 50 states or the District of Columbia.

There are three ways to enter the contest: First, you can go to the website 1000NightsofSummer and enter with a standard entry form via your name and basic contact information, along with your Marriott Rewards number. How to Win

A random drawing will take place close to July 20, 2017, determining winners of the free 1,000 Marriott nights. The grand prize is, of course, a free night at your choice of any category 1-9 Marriott properties around the globe.

Your award will come in the form of an e-ticket valid for a free hotel stay. The e-certificate must be redeemed within 12 months of issue and can be found in your Marriott Rewards account.

Winners will be notified around August 15, 2017.

If you could use a free hotel stay (who couldn’t?), make sure to sign up for Marriott’s new promotion. If you win, you’ll get a free stay at a Category 1-9 Marriott property with a retail value of up to $375.

If you don’t belong to Marriott Rewards already, remember that it’s easy to open a free account. Provide some basic information including your name, address, contact information and hotel preferences, and you’ll be on your way to earning meaningful rewards in no time.

Perfect Gift Protecting your skin from the sun should always be a priority, whether you’re a beach bride or just a beach bum. Summers in Caribbean destinations are usually bright and hot and can sometimes be a shock to travelers who aren’t used to the heat. You could lock yourself up in your room with all the shades drawn like a modern day Rapunzel until your wedding day or you could fully embrace the gorgeous weather and get a little sun safely.  We want your beautiful bridal skin to be just as perfect as your beautiful beach wedding; so we’ve put together some helpful (and skin saving) tips to keep your skin glowing (in a good way) on the day of your wedding! All tips are dermatologist approved.

  • Sunblock vs. Sunscreen- it’s not the same thing (yeah we were surprised too)! Sunblocks are highly effective in protecting against both UVA and UVB rays, the types of UV radiation that cause sunburn and skin cancer, and often appear thick and white on the skin. Sunscreens tend to be less visible on the skin and contain benzophenones which protect against UVA rays, and cinnamates and salicylates, which protect against UVB rays also but allows the skin to absorb more sunlight making it better for safe tanning. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using sunblock with an SPF rating of at least 15. People with fair skin or at high risk for skin cancer may want to go higher; the higher the SPF the longer (and better) the protection.
  • Apply sunscreen/block before heading out into the sun. While your skin is cool and ready to absorb, apply sunscreen at least 20 mins before heading out into the sun. Make sure apply sunscreen as your first layer, before insect replants, lotion etc.
  • Your dress may be the first thing your guests notice, but your face is the first thing your groom will notice. Keep your face sweet and burn-free with SPF cosmetics. When choosing and testing your makeup for your wedding look, choose finishing powder from your favorite line with SPF in it.  The same goes for your daytime moisturizer. During your regular skin care morning routine, after you cleanse your face, use your SPF moisturizer and let it sit for a while; then apply your makeup. To get that sun-kissed look on your face without risking sunburn, use a bronzing powder on your face and neck.

  • SPF tinted balm! Yes, your beautiful lips can become brittle and dried out if you don’t protect them (also, eww!) Lips often go neglected because the skin becomes such a priority, but your lips receive just as much sun as your cheeks do and are more sensitive to the sun as well. Soft and luscious sun-free lips make for a more memorable “first kiss” as husband and wife.
  • After you return from your day in the sun and shower off your sunscreen, grab a thick body moisturizer, preferably with aloe and moisturize your entire body; yes even the parts we can’t see. It’s very important to replenish the moisture the sun drained from your skin during the day. Over exposure to the sun can make your skin appear shriveled and leathery and no one wants to look like a football-raisin on their wedding day (unless that’s the look you’re going for; we won’t judge).
  • Sun Hats are more than just chic poolside accessories. The wide brimmed hats protect your entire face and neck and can provide up to 50 UPF sun protection. If you don’t own a wide brimmed hat check out your on resort gift shop. So your pool checklist should read as follows; kindle, sunblock, towel, bikini, Bahama mama cocktail and wide brimmed hat!

See Africa on Your Next Summer Vacation

Africa is the second largest and most populous continent in the world. At 11.7 million square miles, it is large enough for the United States to fit inside it more than three times. It stretches from the Mediterranean Sea on the north, where it is culturally part of the Middle East, to the Atlantic Ocean on the west and the Indian Ocean on the east. Africa’s west coast juts out into the Atlantic much farther west than Europe, and its eastern side is much farther east. Dakar, Senegal, is only 4,000 miles from North Carolina. When you fly from New York to Johannesburg, South Africa, Dakar is only the half-way point

Summer Vacation Air Travel And How Technology Made Long Flight Travel Lot More Easier To Get Through

Air traveler numbers this 2017 summer are expected to rise over last year summer according to the trade group air travel survey. Airlines expect to carry 234 million passengers from June 1 2017 through Aug. 31, 2017 up from the summer record of 225 million a year ago,

Flying halfway around the planet is a shocking, yet exciting, experience. Think about it. You can wake up at home, yet end the day in an entirely different country with an unfamiliar landscape, culture and feel.

While the exhilaration of traveling somewhere new is hard to match, it does come at a cost. To get somewhere far away, you often must fly for eight, ten or sixteen hours in a single sitting. That’s a long time on a plane, especially in coach. Here are some tips to help you endure:

Technology has made long-distance travel a lot easier to bear. Most long-haul carriers offer in-flight Summer Entertainments, and some even offer back-of-the-headrest entertainment devices in every single seat.

To get the most bang for your buck, make sure you book long- haul flights with carriers that do offer personal entertainment devices. Once you do, your twelve-hour flight can be less of a burden and more of the perfect opportunity to watch four or five movies in a row.

Keep in mind that one carrier can differ from another, and even the age of the aircraft in question can affect entertainment availability. Thus, look closely at which plane you’d be flying and do your research.

If you don’t want to stare at a screen all day, bring a good book (or two), or a Kindle for reading. Occasional reading breaks mixed in with movies and napping can make the time fly by.

Long-haul flights are the absolute worst when you’re uncomfortable. To have the best chances at relaxation, consider paying extra to select your seat early. While you might balk at a $35 upcharge for an assigned window or aisle seat, you’ll wish you weren’t so cheap if you wind up stuck in the dreaded middle for an entire flight.

While sitting in economy plus is bearable, a business class seat (and especially a lie-flat seat) can make flying rather relaxing. If you have the money to splurge, consider spending the extra cash for more comfort on your longest flights. You can also sign up for an airline credit card to start saving miles for a business class seat instead.

Plane food isn’t that great anyway, but it’s especially awful when you get something you don’t like. If you’re a picky eater or just want something special, you can request a special meal ahead of time. Consider asking for a vegetarian, kosher, Asian, or Indian dish to mix things up.

Dressing comfortably isn’t the easiest thing to do if you’re heading straight from the airport to a business meeting. Fortunately, you can dress comfortably (and smartly) if you buy the right attire.

Bluffworks makes a comfortable and nearly wrinkle-free blazer for men who want to travel comfortably yet look put-together when they land. Throw it on with a pair of slacks and you’ll feel like you’re in your jammies. For the ladies, Travel Smith makes some professional-looking and comfortable attire that fits with nearly any business agenda.

The best travel pillow for your needs really depends on your sleep style and how you’re most comfortable. You may need to experiment some to find the right travel pillow for your needs.

If you’re a stomach sleeper, for example, the famous (and funny-looking) Skyrest Travel Pillow is one to consider. If you don’t mind your head tilting to the side, one of those U-shaped pillows could work wonders.

If you’re especially sensitive to sounds, noise-cancelling headphones can create a safe, quiet space while you fly. You can find a ton of options on for $30 and up.

This final tip is probably the most important: Bring a portable charger that can recharge your phone and other devices. While many flights have in-flight plug-ins, not all do. What would you do if your phone died and you were desperate for a game of Solitare?

Lots of companies give portable chargers away for free, but if you need one now and can’t wait for a freebie, you can buy them online for around $10.

As you get ready for busy travel summer season, airlines are setting a new record with investments into new aircraft, technology and overall customer experience.
